We held our annual open night team tournament this past Saturday. We had 82 teams this year and the weather was fair w/ light winds, however it was a dark night falling on the day before the new moon.We would like to thank all of you who came and participated in our event. This is our annual fundraiser that helps with sending our top-six fisherman to the best of six tournament every year and our banquet at the end of the year.
It takes alot of people to help prepare and put on this tournament. I know we're not the Bass Champs or some other large tour series event, but I think everybody did a great job and I hope you look forward to fishing our event next year.
We have some special ladies that worked the concession stand and sold raffle tickets for us. Without them we couldn't have or offer to look forward to food and drink after a long night of fishing. They get up early and volunteer their time for our club. I'm sending out a special thank you to Joan Wells, for coming out after the loss of her husband and our missed club member. May God's strength be with you during this time. Our prayers will continue for you and family.
We would like to thank all the area businesses that donated door prizes for our event. You all help to make this event that much more special for all who fish our tournament.
There were alot of fish brought to the scales. Everybody did a good job with trying to take care of the fish. We did have some dead fish, however it was a great improvement over last years event. This year we gave out syringes and instructions on how to FIZZ the bass's air bladder if necessary. We thank you for your help in preserving our precious resource as fisherman.

The Bass club held its 6th tournament of the year last night. It started out with some light rain but cleared off by midnight. The wind picked up out of the southeast making it tough to fish on the Texas mainlake side where my partner and I had hoped to fish.
There were some good fish caught. I believe there were 7 fish over 6 lbs brought to the scales. Jeff Cooley had the big bass weighing 9.46 lbs. First place was Derek Edwards with 3 fish that went 18.32 lbs. Second was Thelton Brown with 5 fish that went 17.23 lbs. Third was Jeff Cooley with 2 fish that went 14.94 lbs. Team stringer was brought in by Derek Edwards and Louis Rouleau with there best 5 fish weighing 31.21 lbs. Fishing was fairly slow with only 2 five fish limits caught. Most of the larger fish were caught along main river ledges on soft plastics.
Our next meeting will be Aug.2nd at the civic center 6:30 p.m.. Hope to see you there. Sam Rayburn will be the lake we fish for August.
Have a great day and remember to thank God for all your many blessings!
Louis Rouleau
P.S. Be sure to check back periodically as I will try to keep you posted. Enjoy our great fisheries and keep them clean so they may continue to be an enjoyable place to spend time and share in fellowship!
